♪ Cause we’re stuck in, stuck in Vermont ♪ ♪ Can’t get out ♪ ♪ The Green Orbs, “Splashing Around” ♪ Welcome to Stuck in Vermont brought to
you by Seven Days and sponsored by New England Federal Credit Union. We are in
Winooski at A Canine Gem, today we’re doing yoga..with kittens! [kitten meowing] ♪ ♪ Because it’s kitten yoga and there’s a kitty right here. They’re just really cute and they’re so playful. And today seven of these kittens are up for adoption. But I’m not allowed to bring any home. We do animal yoga events all
over the East Coast. Right now we’re actually just expanding,
just got off the phone with Los Angeles yesterday. They were actually talking about something like, on the order of 100 to 200 kittens [laughs]. [record scratch] We do events all over the Burlington area
which is where we live. My wife and I live with
our kids in Shelburne. Animal yoga is a little different
than a regular yoga class, you may have gathered already. We do goat yoga, puppy yoga, kitten yoga,
bunny yoga, we’ve done alpaca yoga and shh, we do have some other animals in the works. There’s no experience needed for any of these classes, it’s all ages. Some of the cats just seem to be like,
“Why are they waving this string at me?” Oh, you are so cute! I want to name her Cow. And I Iike Cat Cow [pose], cause there’s a kitty. Just do a type of yoga and then,
pet the kitten while I do it. Downward Dog because the kittens
kept running underneath us in that pose. Not needing to perfect your yoga poses,
get to focus on the kitties instead. We’ve been doing this for over three years
now. And I grew up on a farm, my wife has family from farms as well.
We grew up around goats and dogs and cats and we love yoga and taught yoga for years
so it was a no-brainer to bring, kind of bring all of our worlds together. Sitting up nice and tall. On the way over here she said,
“I’m so happy I think I could cry.” This was funner than I thought. I just really like cats. I had a great time bringing my son. I ask him to come to yoga with me
all the time and he says no. Definitely just came cause of the cats but it was fun. We know yoga is good for your health, being around animals is good for your
health and being in a natural environment is good for your health so
doing all three things all together, is just an amazing experience.
And I’ve been doing this for a long time, I’ve never seen so many people come out of these
classes or any class, just so full of joy. Good, so as you inhale, think of lengthening. We often adopt and love to help adopt
animals at every event if possible. 50% of all the proceeds go towards the
rescues and shelters. We have, always lots of dogs but we have seniors, special needs, we do puppies. We place on average, anywhere between 8 to 10 dogs a week and about two cats or kittens a week. This is a lot of work, so this is my 29th year
doing rescue. It is a passion, I’m also an accountant but I do this
because this is truly a love and it’s wonderful when you make matches and you
find homes and… This kitten is so cute and I love this kitten. There’s been a few that have been
adopted through the yoga program. I want to take it home but I can’t because
I already have two big cats. My cat Taco is like the black one, it is very, very frisky. [kitten meowing] So we pull from North Carolina and
South Carolina and Georgia now. So these kitties made their trek up
last weekend from North Carolina. Anything that’s been there for the week
gets euthanized Thursday morning. If you’re ever wondering what a lot of us are doing on Wednesday nights, we’re trying to save all the ones
that have not been reclaimed or adopted. And then these guys got on transport
right on Friday to make it up for this class, so. [kitten meows] Every one of these animals here
would have been euthanized. Yep. So some days when I’m like, “Oh my god,
I’m so tired” or this is happening and this. I’m like, you know what, none of them
would be alive today so it’s a wonderful thing. So, that’s why
we do it. ♪ The Green Orbs “Sleeping Sheep” ♪ Om… I was so excited just to have a special
experience with Camilla today. I made a kitten go under my mom. Pushed him a little and he went under mommy. I wanna do the puppy yoga and the bunny yoga. I do not want goats because
they’re gonna jump on top of you. Oh, oh and the goats – I forgot about that! Oh ho ho ho! Trust me, try it once, you’ll love it. Bring your
family, bring your friends, it’s an awesome experience. [giggling] And we will get stuck
