A kitten video that might just save the Great Barrier Reef

Meet Fluffy I borrowed her I’m not a cat person I’m a marine scientist So why the kitten? Because this kitten could help save The Great Barrier Reef! Politicians like to say that the crown of thorns starfish Cyclones, coral bleaching are destroying the reef But these are either caused or made worse by global warming We now know that burning coal and other fossil fuels makes the seawater acidic And we know this water will eventually destroy the coral and the shells of the oceans and the creatures that live in them So what do we do? human choices created global warming and human choices can change it If politicians can’t or won’t act Then as a scientist I know that we need to go back to the root of the problem Money! The single biggest cause of global warming comes from burning coal Big Aussie banks lend the billions of dollars needed for coal projects Like the gigantic mines planned for Queensland Those loans come from our mortgages and our savings If you switched to another lender because your bank is helping to destroy our reef They’ll get the message! So what’s Fluffy doing to save the reef? You’re still watching aren’t you! I’m Dr Charlie Veron And I know Australians care about the Great Barrier Reef But do our big banks? If they can’t change we can change banks Then they’ll be having kittens Eh Fluffy? (Fluffy roars)
